BSN RN CFRN CCRN CEN

An experienced ICU, ED and Flight Nurse with over 25 years of in hospital experience, and 10 years of flight / transport experience including long distance repatriation flights.

Currently working in Northern Nevada for a regional medical flight transport company utilizing the Bell 407 and the Pilatus PC-12 aircraft, the Hamilton T-1 ventilator, Sapphire infusion pumps, and various other ICU level equipment to transport critically ill and injured patients directly from scenes or smaller institutions to larger Level I trauma centers and university level healthcare systems. We generally fly with a two member medical crew (Critical Care Paramedic and RN) and one pilot.

Entry level flight medical positions require 3-5 years of busy ICU/ED or urban 911 system experience before even applying. For nurses, I believe that ICU experience is of more benefit than ED experience due to the nature of the patient’s we transport. The paramedic brings scene and trauma stabilization experience, while the nurse brings ICU level ventilator/drip/ and monitoring experience that critical care paramedics have limited exposure to.
